This is another rare variety from the mountains of Chile that is one of the most cold hardy varieties there is and can withstand low temperatures down to a chillingly cold minus 5 degrees C although it will look it's best if grown in containers and kept away from the cold but once established it can be planted out in the garden. Produces large semi serrated rosettes of silver green foliage with tall flower spikes of light blue flowers enclosed in pinky-red bracts which look rather different than most plants you will see down the local garden centre. Growing Puya is not difficult but we provide full cultural and germination advice to help you along. Requires minimum care and are well worth the effort
