Firstly YES it is Possible to root Adeniums from cuttings but why would you want to? There is very good reason. New hybrids are valuable and sacred amongst collectors and besides why 'put all your plants on one tree?'
Despite the quick growing characteristics of Adenium Seeds which normally reach flowering size within 12 months and even though you can buy an already established flowering Adenium plant there is an alternative method you can consider and that is to grow Adenium from cuttings.
If you are interested in growing Adenium from cutting's then here is what you will need:
Sharp knife
Sphagnum peat moss
Perlite
Nursery (plant) pots
Mist / Spray bottle
Firstly take a 5 to 6 inch cutting from one of your plants or purchase one from our site**, the thickness of a pencil is ideal. Be sure to take it from a stem growing directly from the caudex, or the bulbous portion of the Adenium.
Place the cutting in a warm, dry place for two to four days until the cut portion has callused over.
Combine one part of sphagnum peat moss with three parts perlite (cactus compost & perlite is just as good) and pour the mixture into a flat or nursery pots, leaving a 1/4 inch gap between the top of the potting mix and the rim.
Water the planting medium until it is soaked and water drains from the bottom of the container. Using a pencil poke planting holes in the planting medium. Allow the pot to sit and drain until the planting medium is left feeling moist. This can take a good few hours so we would recommend doing this just before you go to bed and leave it over night. This does depend upon the conditions in the home.
Insert the cuttings into the prepared planting holes and pack the medium around them.
Mist them with water from a spray bottle and place them in an area with filtered sunlight. An ideal location is near a window with a filmy curtain.
Keep the soil just barely moist and mist the Adenium cuttings daily. Watch for new growth as an indication that the Adenium has rooted.
Before to long and within a few months your Adenium cutting will be in flower.
